Esther Calma for diKsí Summer 2013

I was making my collage for today's "Thursday's Favourites" and realized I never blogged about this Spanish shoe designer; Esther Calma.

Below it's her story told by Esther herself on her web, and under that that the Summer 2013 collection she designed for the clothes brand diKsí.
There isn't one I don't like, they are all so beautiful, but some more than others!

" I was born in Guadalajara and ever since I was a little girl I spent long hours drawing, a habit which I continue to do today.

When I was in school, I used to draw high heel shoes in the margins of my books. I was only seven, when I showed up to class wearing a pair of high heels. When my mum found out she was shocked but she graciously allowed me to wear hers at home.

I have always known that I would be a shoe designer, which is why I took up fashion studies in Madrid and specialized in shoe design in Elda.

I currently have two pairs of shoes on display Elda's Shoe Museum. One pair was inspired by a witch and the other pair, which was awarded with the Premio Internacional Lapiz de Oro 2006, was inspired by a cat.

I have worked as a shoe designer for Zara, Sfera and Blanco and last year, I created my own brand, Esther Calma, making one of my dreams come true."

Ulyana Sergeenko: Fall-Winter 2011/2012

A week ago I discovered, thanks to Laia from Let me feel like a doll, Ulyana Sergeenko, a wonderful photographer and designer; and I must say I instantly fell in love with her, her work and clothes.

Here's her Ready-to-wear 2011-2012 Fall/Winter Collection; I can't choose, I love everything! It's all so inspiring! I'd kill to have one of these in my closet, especially the long ones (yeah, black beauty, gorgeous red & furry green sexy, I'm looking at you!).

diKsi Fall / Winter 2011-12 Collection

Finally diKsi released their new collection catalogue, which is lovely with a beautiful and feminine aesthetic. It's inspired by 50s and 60s films. With beautiful and glamorous women like Audrey Hepburn, Anna Karina, Jeanne Seberg, Tippi Hedren, Catherine Deneuve, Briggite Bardort, Grace Kelly o Jeanne Moreau as their muses.

I have to say that I always like their clothes, but what I love even more are the catalogue, the video and decoration! Who wouldn't like to have a room like the one in here? Because I do! Hahaha!
Still, I want to buy a dress from their last collection I fell in love at first sight, but it kills me that I probably won't have the chance to wear it properly, as in a special occasion.

And here is the video, so adorable and playful!!

Brand: Las Oreiro

As you probably know I'm an Argentinian living in Spain, so even if I live in the north hemisphere, I can't help looking at the south hemisphere fashion, especially some local brands I adore!

This time I want to introduce a brand called "Las Oreiro", named after both creators; Natalia (an actress) and Adriana Oreiro, which is mainly retro inspired clothes, 50s mostly.
Las Oreiro have just released their 2012 Spring/Summer collection and circus inspired, probably inspired by the book/movie "Water for Elephants", but that's just my guess seeing that Ringling Brothers poster in the photo shot.. ;D

Las oreiro

I'm not really into circuses, I really hate how they always treated animals (plus I hate clowns with all my heart xD), but I really like the thematic, it's colourful and somehow magical!

Orla Kiely Ready-To-Wear AW 2011-12

I discovered Orla Kiely like 2 years ago through Laia of Let me feel like a doll, and I must say that I love every collection through the seasons.

This 2011-12 A/W collection is inspired by horror films, more precisely by Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds", a film I personally love.
Here's a video showing the collection, which to me is kinda scary with those models moving and eerie dancing around; the clothes, are simply gorgeous!

And my favourite pieces form the collection:

Brand: Laliblue

Today I discovered an indie Spanish accessories brand full of cute little treasures; Laliblue.
It has a lovely artwork, and the main character is Lali.

Like a month ago, the new collection was launched on the web and it's all circus inspired. I'm no circus fan, but I love the aesthetics, and this collection has the very few aspects of the circus I actually like.
I'm in love with all the brooches and the necklaces!! Sadly too expensive for me.. ;_;

Brand: Miss Patina

I want to thank Libe from Not here to please you for introducing me this beautiful brand from London: Miss Patina.
The thing is that I know I heard of it before but I guess I forgot about it. Now I'm in love with lots of their dresses!!

Fashion: MANGO

I'm not a fan of the brand MANGO, to tell you the truth I never like anything from them, but this season I've been surprised by the colourful and fun dresses.

Some of them reminds me of two dresses that belonged to my mother back in the day that I always loved, but never been able to wear due to size, and some I bought around ten years ago which I haven't wore in a while.

Fashion Inspiration: Blanco Sailor Collage

To be perfectly honest I never really cared at all about this brand, but that's because it never was a physical shop were I live/lived; but now we have 2 here, so my interest in the brand had rose! xDD

Of course I have no money to buy anything, but taking a look and fantasizing about the sailor theme going up there is not a crime!
Maybe I could buy one of the scarves that are driving me crazy!!

Wonder Rocket

Wonder Rocket is a brand I fell in love long before knowing what "mori girl" was; their subtle sweet and soft designs, their floral and brown prints always gave me that romantic forest vibe. just like "natural kei"; no wonder this brand is the mori girls best friend!

Sadly, I didn't go inside the shop last week when in Tokyo, there were so many shops I wanted to visit and so little time. But I was lucky enough to pass in front of the door so I could snap some photos of the entrance.
The decoration is lovely and surreal at the same time; pretty patterns and soft colours adorned with scary-looking bunny heads that look at you in a very sinister way.

They have three different brand names, all under the main one being Wonder Rocket, that has a wide range of different clothes not only for mori girls, that includes vibrant floral patterns and colours, all of course in their particular style.
The other two are Lilly, my favourite, with airy clothes and pastel colours; and Momo, a more casual looking style with printed tees, not so airy patterns and the use of darker colours.

Here I leave you with a little selection of my favourite things in the store right now.
