Maps + Dresses = AWESOME

Fell in love with these map dresses, not only the shape, but also the map prints are divine! The truth is I've always been obsessed with old maps and wanted to be a cartographer for a while, hahahaha! Don't you think they are gorgeous?!

Inspiration: Fashion Collage.

Yesterday I was really bored and decided to make a little collage with Emikyu's April's 'spoon Magazine' shoot.
I'm not too happy with the background, it looks too out of place, but whatever; I've been collecting some textures here and there and making my own, so here's the result.

Expect more of these, because it's so much fun!!

Lovely Mail from Japan

Who doesn't like receiving mail from time to time? Even if it's a letter, a postcard or cute little gifts!

I love writing letters or sending postcards, it's so nice starting the day with these little pleasures!

This morning while checking my mailbox as I do every morning (I'm waiting 2 little packages, actually 3, but I think one is lost for good ;_;), I found a letter I wasn't expecting and had me smiling all day long..

Remember this post I made about Chinatsu Higashi two weeks ago? Well.., I wrote her some mails letting her know how much I loved her artwork, she expressed her love for Spain so I recomended some places to visit if she comes.
I must say she sounds lovely by mail.., and I was right! She's so nice and kind that sent me a cute envelop with some gifts of her artwork!

Inside the envelope there were three postcards of my favourite drawing, the stylish bunnies , a little plastic envelope with some stickers also made by her, and a postcard of a girl written on the back from her to me, thanking my mails. I think the envelope, which is beautiful with all those little flowers in pink and blue, is also designed by her!!

As you can see, I'm really happy and thrilled. Now I have to think what I can send her!!

Movies I want to live in # 1: Edward Scissorhands

Today I'll start a series of posts about movies I'd love to live in.. This would particularly apply to Mr. Burton and Miyazaki-san, two of my favourite directors!

Both of them have the talent to create wonderful worlds (apart from movies, of course), even if they are destroyed, dark or devastated..

If you ask me which is my favourite movie, I'd say that Edward Scissorhands is one of them, I remember when I went to the cinema with my aunt and my cousins to watch the film when it opened.., I came out totally in love with it at the end of the film; and I remember saying: "Oh my!! That was the hot guy from 21 jump street! Johnny Depp!! *O*

So apart for wanting a Depp for myself, I'd love to live inside this film!

Hell yes! To a cheesy town like this one!

Illustration Illusion

Like you might know my favourite clothes brand in the world Emily Temple cute, a girly brand from Japan; so I always stalk anything related to them.

Some time ago, I discovered Chinatsu Higashi, the amazing artist behind two ETc print series: "Present Box" and "Rabbits and Ribbons" both from 2007.
She's a Tokyo artist who loves to express the world through charming and gentle painting, pattern drawing & collage.

Not only she collaborated with ETc, she also did with Afternoon Tea on Christmas 2007 with beautiful packagings for their delicious treats.

She did many more collaborations and her drawings now and then appear at different Japanese publications such as OZ or きらら.

The Eternity beneath the Bathtub

Today I want to show you a wonderful book I discovered "The Eternity beneath the Bathtub" by Jinx in the Sky, a lovely and talented Austrian artist, currently residing in New Zealand.

The title "The Eternity beneath the Bathtub" is based on a childhood memory of mine. Our bathtub was not free standing, and when you knocked against the bottom of it while being inside it made a hollow sound (because of the small space between the tub wall and the floor) and I imagined that space to be huge, endless and universe-like and sometimes I was worried the tub would break loose off the bathroom and fall into that hole with me. So I was always rather careful not to move around too much.

How can you resist not buying it after reading that. Sounds so sweet and reminds me of some of the dreams, and fears I had when I was a child.
And if the short stories are not enough, check some of the artwork, so beautiful and eerie..
